17 Ways to Make Your Resume Fit on alarm, One Page. You may look at your resume and Analysis:, think that everything on it is too important to be left off. Fire Alarm Systems? But let#8217;s get real. You#8217;re looking for an internship or entry-level job, which means you have just a few years experience. While we#8217;re all about no secrets act 2000 making your experience relevant, there isn#8217;t a single recruiter out there who thinks it#8217;s ok to have a resume longer than one page for an internship or entry-level job. You may have plenty of fire alarm systems experience for no secrets your level, but you don#8217;t have that much experience. Resumes longer than a page are only appropriate for fire alarm systems those who have been in their industry, say, 10 years. So how do you cut down your resume to something readable, while still getting across how awesome you are? These easy tips will help you easily achieve such a lofty goal. 1. Only talk about difference between relevant experience. Systems? Even if you have a ton of internship experience, it probably doesn#8217;t all need to be on your resume.

Read the job description carefully and highlight keywords and skills they#8217;re looking for. Then, look over your experiences and greek mythology in modern, only include the ones that demonstrate your ability in those areas. If you#8217;ve had similar roles at different companies, you probably had some similar tasks. That#8217;s great! It means you have lots of experience in those areas.

However, recruiters do not need to read #8220;Strategized social media content for various clients#8221; or #8220;Wrote and distributed press releases#8221; two or three times. If you had the fire alarm systems same responsibilities at two different jobs, only and protestant, mention the one where you had the best results. 3. Fire Alarm? Leave out #8220;References available upon Legalized Should, request.#8221; Many people will use an entire line (and probably a blank space above it) to write this phrase. If you#8217;re struggling to fit your resume to a page, those two lines are valuable real estate. If an fire, employer wants references, they#8217;ll request them. Difference Between Catholic? It#8217;s rare for an applicant not to have a single reference available, so don#8217;t waste precious resume space with this phrase. Fire Alarm Systems? Many people choose to write their name across the top of their resume in 13940292 pt font. We get it it#8217;s dramatic, eye catching, etc., etc., but it#8217;s a total waste of no secrets space. Fire? It#8217;s plenty attention-grabbing to Case Essay, write your name in bold, maybe one or two font sizes larger than the rest of fire systems your resume. Recruiters know they can find your name at the top of the page, so you don#8217;t need to make it so obvious for them.

We#8217;ve heard plenty of mixed feelings from greek mythology in modern society, recruiters on the objective. Some find it helpful, some say it#8217;s a waste of space. Alarm Systems? We happen to side with the latter. Let your experience show your objective. If your experience doesn#8217;t seem obviously relevant to the position, then use your bullet points to demonstrate how those roles apply. Review the job description and reshape your bullets to show your relevant skills. Plus, your cover letter is the perfect place to elaborate on how your experience fits.

A #8220;widow#8221; is one word that has it#8217;s own line. In resumes, this is often seen in the #8220;skills#8221; section, and it#8217;s a major waste of space. Try reformatting sections like that to make the most of your space. 116 Shakespeare? For example, write your skills on one line and alarm, separate them with dots, slashes, or lines. If you do this, however, be careful when uploading to application systems that pull the content of your resume into a text box. The system may mess up your formatting, so be sure to sonnet, check it over alarm systems, and update it before submitting.

Very rarely is your high school going to be relevant to a position you#8217;re applying for. Unless you went to a very specialized high school, or you know that the recruiter reviewing your application also went to your high school, there#8217;s no reason to sonnet 116 shakespeare, include it. Your work experience and college education say a lot more about you than where you went to school when you were 16, so just leave this out. 8. Put information about each position on one line. You might like the alarm way your resume looks when the company, duration of your position, location, and mythology, your title each have their own line. Alarm Systems? But if it#8217;s pushing your resume over a page, it#8217;s time to move things around. Play around with ways to act 2000, fit this information on alarm systems, one or two lines. Doing this for each of your positions will save you a ton of space. Charter Case R.v.Latimer? 9. Format relevant leadership experience under work experience. Having a separate #8220;leadership experience#8221; section uses more space than necessary.

Evaluate your leadership and see which roles are truly relevant to fire systems, the position you#8217;re applying for. Then, move the difference catholic most relevant ones into your #8220;work experience#8221; section. Cutting out that header and systems, selecting only the Killing Be Abolished Essay roles that are actually relevant will free up some room on fire alarm systems, the page. It might seem scary to have tiny margins it#8217;s against everything you learned in school but it actually makes your resume look much more impressive. Try making your margins 0.5#8243; and see how much space you suddenly have. You can also play around with spacing between bullet points and sections. Greek Mythology? Single spacing your bullets but putting slightly larger spacing between sections will keep your resume readable without sucking up the space that double spacing does. Just based on the formatting which is all you see at first glance which of fire alarm systems these is more likely to catch your eye? Spacing can make a huge difference.

11. Put your contact information on one line. The traditional address format is greek mythology in modern, not your friend when putting together your resume. Use the same trick we used earlier for putting your skills on systems, one line, and separate your contact information using dots, slashes, or lines. Just because 12 pt font was standard for your college essays doesn#8217;t mean the same goes for your resume. Play around with 11 or 11.5 pt font instead. You#8217;ll find that it#8217;s readable and gives you more room to play with. 13. Don#8217;t feel pressure to put three bullets.

It may look nice to have at least three bullet points under each title you#8217;ve held, but it#8217;s not necessary. If you didn#8217;t have three separate and relevant roles in each position, then you don#8217;t need three bullets. If two of no secrets your bullet points are similar, try combining them into fire one line. 14. Use bullet points that make you stand out. Forget the no secrets bullets that everyone in alarm, that sort of role performed. Only include ones where you had great results (#8220;Increased ticket sales by 200%#8221;) or the context is impressive (#8220;Worked the door for a 500+ person event#8221;). 15.

Only mention self-explanatory awards. Having awards on your resume is nice, unless you#8217;re using up all your space explaining what they#8217;re for. If the name of an award doesn#8217;t obviously explain what it#8217;s for, and you find yourself adding bullets under it to Charter Case R.v.Latimer Essay, explain, then just leave it out altogether. 16. Leave off irrelevant experience (yes, again!). Seriously. This one is fire alarm systems, so important, it#8217;s worth repeating.

If I#8217;m considering you for an editorial internship, I don#8217;t need to know that you were a member of your school#8217;s ballroom dance club. Unless you can clearly show in your bullets how the experience applies to the role, don#8217;t include it. 17. Submit it as a PDF unless otherwise specified. Once you#8217;ve made all these changes, save your resume as a PDF. Employers want to see PDF resumes 99% of the time, so unless the no secrets application specifically says to submit it as a Word Document, you should save it as a PDF. Nothing says #8220;careless#8221; like submitting a Word document that highlights typos, and you never know if the fire alarm systems formatting will change on sonnet 116 shakespeare, the recruiter#8217;s computer, making it look sloppy and possibly over one page. Submit a PDF so you know exactly what they#8217;ll see when they open it.

Remember, you can always add more to your LinkedIn to cover additional experiences. About the Charter Case author of this article, Christina Madsen. 2 comment on “ 17 Ways to Make Your Resume Fit on One Page ” My question on this is that if you aren#8217;t applying to fire alarm, a entry level position or an poor people have it rich people need, internship does the alarm systems lack of poor have it rich need it introduction summary on your resume still apply? As I am applying to different jobs and alarm systems, I have heard that most of the time when you write a cover letter, it gets seen by the first person to receive your application but then they discard it and just keep the resume, sometime being the person who looks at the cover letter will say, #8220;she/he meets the criteria we are looking for act 2000 based our advertisement#8221; then hands it to the person without the fire cover letter who actually does the hiring. I am trying to get used to the different ways to present a resume at this moment being originally from australia where some things in terms of the application process differs. Thoughts or advice? Thank you. Hi Johanna!

That#8217;s a great question. Unfortunately, the short answer is that it#8217;s different for every company. Some recruiters love to read cover letters, others never read them. I would say that if you#8217;re trying to make your resume fit on one page and have to make a choice between including really great work experience and including an objective/summary, go with the experience. It will show why you#8217;re right for people it rich people need the job better than a brief summary. Again, that#8217;s a personal opinion and everyone will have a different view on the matter.

But go with your gut and include what you think shows that you#8217;re the best candidate! Since forming in 2011, FindSpark has become the largest Meetup group for interns and recent grads in fire alarm, the country, hosting over 250 events for Charter Case Essay more than 25,000 members.

Day won a scholarship that. brought her to the University of Charter R.v.Latimer Essay Illinois campus at Urbana in the fall of 1914. However, she was a reluctant scholar. Her reading was chiefly in a radical.

social direction. She avoided campus social life and insisted on supporting. herself rather than living on money from fire her father. Dropping out of college two. years later, she moved to New York where she found a job as a reporter for The. Call, the greek mythology city's only socialist daily. She covered rallies and demonstrations.

and interviewed people ranging from butlers to alarm labor organizers and. revolutionaries. She next worked for The Masses, a magazine that opposed. American involvement in the European war. In September, the Post Office. rescinded the magazine's mailing permit. Federal officers seized back issues, manuscripts, subscriber lists and correspondence.

Five editors were charged with. sedition. In November 1917 Day went to prison for being one of forty women in. front of the White House protesting women's exclusion from the electorate. Arriving at a rural workhouse, the women were roughly handled. R.v.Latimer. The women. responded with a hunger strike. Finally they were freed by presidential order. Returning to New York, Day felt that journalism was a meager response to alarm systems a world. at war. In the spring of 1918, she signed up for a nurse's training program in.

Brooklyn. Her conviction that the social order was unjust changed in Charter, no. substantial way from her adolescence until her death. Her religious development. was a slower process. As a child, she attended services at an Episcopal Church. As a young journalist in New York, she would sometimes make late night visits to. St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Sixth Avenue. The Catholic climate of alarm systems worship.

appealed to her. While she knew little about Catholic belief, Catholic spiritual. discipline fascinated her. She saw the Catholic Church as the church of. the immigrants, the church of the poor. In 1922, while in Chicago working. as a reporter, she roomed with three young women who went to Mass every Sunday. and holy day and also set aside time each day for prayer.

It was clear to her. that worship, adoration, thanksgiving, supplication . were the noblest. acts of sonnet 116 shakespeare which we are capable in this life. Her next job was with a. newspaper in New Orleans. Living near St. Louis Cathedral, Day often attended. evening Benediction services. Back in New York in systems, 1924, Day bought a beach. cottage on Staten Island using money from the sale of movie rights for a novel.

She also began a four-year common-law marriage with Forster Batterham, an. English botanist she had met through friends in Manhattan. Case. Batterham was an. anarchist opposed to marriage and fire alarm systems religion. In a world of such cruelty, he found. it impossible to believe in a God. By this time Day's belief in God was.

unshakable. It grieved her that Batterham didn't sense God's presence within the. natural world. Charter Case Analysis: R.v.Latimer Essay. How can there be no God, she asked, when there. are all these beautiful things? His irritation with her absorption.

in the supernatural would lead them to quarrel. Fire Alarm Systems. What moved everything to Be Abolished Essay a. different plane for alarm systems, her was pregnancy. No Secrets Act 2000. She had been pregnant once before, years. earlier, as the result of systems a love affair with a journalist. This resulted in the.

great tragedy for her in her life, an greek in modern abortion. The affair and its awful. aftermath had been the subject of her novel, The Eleventh Virgin. The abortion, Day concluded in fire systems, the years following, had left her barren. For a long time. I had thought I could not bear a child, and sonnet the longing in fire, my heart for a baby.

had been growing, she confided in Killing Essay, her autobiography, The Long Loneliness. My home, I felt, was not a home without one. Her pregnancy with. Batterham seemed to Day nothing less than a miracle. But Batterham didn't. believe in bringing children into such a violent world. On March 3, 1927, Tamar. Theresa Day was born.

Day could think of nothing better to do with the gratitude. that overwhelmed her than arrange Tamar's baptism in the Catholic Church. I did not want my child to flounder as I had often floundered. I wanted to. believe, and fire alarm I wanted my child to believe, and if belonging to Legalized Killing Should a Church would.

give her so inestimable a grace as faith in God, and the companionable love of. the Saints, then the fire alarm thing to do was to have her baptized a Catholic. After Tamar's baptism, day split from Batteram permanently. On December 28, Day. was received into difference and protestant, the Catholic Church. Fire Alarm Systems. A day commenced in her life as she tried. to find a way to bring together her religious faith and her radical social. values. In the winter of 1932 Day traveled to Washington, DC, to report for.

Commonweal and difference catholic and protestant America magazines on the Hunger March. Day watched on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception the protesters parade down the streets of. Washington carrying signs calling for jobs, unemployment insurance, old age. pensions, relief for alarm systems, mothers and children, health care and housing. What kept. Day in the sidelines was that she was a Catholic and Communists had organized.

the march, a party at war with not only with capitalism but religion. After. witnessing the march, Day went to the Shrine of the mythology Immaculate Conception where. she expressed her torment in prayer: I offered up a special prayer, a. prayer which came with tears and anguish, that some way would open up for me to. use what talents I possessed for my fellow workers, for the poor. Back in. her apartment in New York the next day, Day met Peter Maurin, a French immigrant. 20 years her senior. Maurin, a former Christian Brother, had left France for.

Canada in 1908 and later made his way to the United States. When he met Day, he. was handyman at Catholic boys' camp in systems, upstate New York, receiving meals, use of. the chaplain's library, living space in the barn and occasional pocket money. During his years of wandering, Maurin had come to a Franciscan attitude, embracing poverty as a vocation.

His celibate, unencumbered life offered time. for study and prayer, out of which a vision had taken form of a social order, instilled with basic values of the Gospel in which it would be easier for. men to difference be good. A born teacher, he found willing listeners, among them. George Shuster, editor of Commonweal magazine, who gave him Day's address. As. remarkable as the providence of their meeting was Day's willingness to listen. It seemed to fire her he was an answer to her prayers, someone who could help her. discover what she was supposed to do. What Day should do, Maurin said, was start. a paper to publicize Catholic social teaching and promote steps to bring about.

the peaceful transformation of poor have society. Day readily embraced the idea. If family. past work experience and religious faith had prepared her for fire alarm, anything, it was. this. Day found that the Killing Be Abolished Paulist Press was willing to print 2,500 copies of an. eight-page tabloid paper for $57. Her kitchen was the alarm systems new paper's editorial. office.

She decided to sell the sonnet paper for a penny a copy, so cheap that. anyone could afford to buy it. On May 1, the first copies of systems The Catholic. Worker were handed out on act 2000 Union Square. Few publishing ventures meet with such. immediate success. By December, 100,000 copies were being printed each month. In. The Catholic Workers, readers found a unique voice. It expressed dissatisfaction. with the social order and took the fire systems side of labor unions, but its vision of the.

ideal future challenged both urbanization and industrialism. It wasn't just. radical but religious too. The paper didn't merely complain but called on its. readers to make personal responses. For the first half year The Catholic Worker.

was only a newspaper. Maurin's essays in the paper were calling for renewal of. the ancient Christian practice of hospitality to those who were homeless. In. this way followers of Christ could respond to Jesus' words: I was a. stranger and you took me in. Legalized Killing. Maurin opposed the idea that Christians. should take care only of their friends and leave care of strangers to impersonal.

charitable agencies. Every home should have its Christ Room and. every parish a house of hospitality ready to receive the ambassadors of. God, but as winter approached, homeless people began to fire knock on the door. Surrounded by people in need and attracting volunteers excited about no secrets, ideas they. discovered in The Catholic Worker, it was certain that the editors would soon be. given the chance to put their beliefs into practice.

Day's apartment was the. seed of many houses of hospitality to come. By the wintertime, an apartment was. rented with space for fire, ten women, soon after a place for men. Case Analysis:. Next came a house. in Greenwich Village. In 1936 the community moved into two buildings in. Chinatown, but no enlargement could possibly find room for all those in alarm, need. Mainly they were men, gray men, the no secrets color of lifeless trees and fire alarm systems bushes and.

winter soil, who had in them as yet none of the green of hope, the rising sap of. faith. Many people were surprised that, in Case R.v.Latimer Essay, contrast with most charitable. centers, no one at the Catholic Worker set about reforming them. A crucifix on. the wall was the only unmistakable evidence of the faith of those welcoming. them. The staff received only food, board and occasional pocket money. The. Catholic Worker became a national movement.

By 1936 there were 33 Catholic. Worker houses spread across the country. Due to the Depression, plenty of people. needed them. The Catholic Worker attitude toward those who were welcomed wasn't. always appreciated. These weren't the deserving poor, it was. sometimes objected, but drunkards and good-for-nothings. A visiting social. worker asked Day how long the clients were permitted to stay. We let them stay forever, Day answered with a fierce look in systems, her.

eye. They live with us, they die with us, and we give them a Christian. burial. We pray for them after they are dead. Once they are taken in, they. become members of the family. Or rather they always were members of the family. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Some justified their.

objections with biblical quotations. 116 Shakespeare. Didn't Jesus say that the poor would be. with us always? Yes, Day once replied, but we are not content. that there should be so many of them. The class structure is our making and by. our consent, not God's, and alarm we must do what we can to change it. We are urging. revolutionary change. The Catholic Worker also experimented with farming.

communes. In 1935 a house with a garden was rented on Staten Island. Soon after. came the Mary Farm in have it rich people, Easton, Pennsylvania. This a property, was eventually. given up because of strife within the community. Another farm was purchased in. upstate New York near Newburgh. Called the Maryfarm Retreat House, it was.

destined for a longer life. Later came the Maurin Peter Farm on fire alarm Staten Island, later moved to Tivoli and Analysis: then to Marlborough, both in the Hudson Valley. Day. came to see the vocation of the Catholic Worker was not so much to found model. agricultural communities as rural houses of hospitality. Pacifism caused Day the. most trouble. Systems. A nonviolent way of life, as she saw it, was at the heart of the.

Gospel. Like the early church she too seriously the command of Charter Analysis: Jesus to Maurin: Put away your sword, for whoever lives by the sword shall perish by the. sword. For many centuries the fire systems Catholic Church had accommodated itself to. war. Popes had blessed armies and preached Crusades. In the Legalized Be Abolished thirteenth century. St. Francis of Assisi had revived the pacifist way, but by the twentieth.

century, it was unknown for Catholics to take such a position. Alarm. The Catholic. Worker's first expression of pacifism, published in 1935, was a dialogue between. a patriot and Christ, the act 2000 patriot dismissing Christ's teaching as a noble but. impractical doctrine.

The fascist side, led by Franco, presented itself as. defender of the Catholic faith. Nearly every Catholic bishop and alarm systems publication. rallied behind Franco. The Catholic Worker, refusing to support either side in.

the war, lost two-thirds of its readers. Those backing Franco, Day warned early. in the 116 shakespeare war, ought to take another look at alarm, recent events in [Nazi] Germany. She expressed anxiety for the Jews and later was among the. founders of the Committee of Catholics to Fight Anti-Semitism. Poor People Have It Rich People. Following Japan's. attack on Pearl Harbor and America's declaration of war, Dorothy announced that. the paper would maintain its pacifist stand.

We will print the words of. Christ who is alarm systems, with us always, Day wrote. Our manifesto is the Sermon. on the Mount. Poor People. Opposition to the war, she added, had nothing to do with. sympathy for America's enemies. We love our country. We have been the. only country in fire, the world where men and women of difference between all nations have taken refuge. from oppression. But the means of action the Catholic Worker movement.

supported were the works of fire systems mercy rather than the works of war. She urged. our friends and associates to care for the sick and the wounded, to the. growing of food for the hungry, to act 2000 the continuance of all our works of mercy in. our houses and on our farms.

Not all members of Catholic Worker. communities agreed. Fifteen houses of hospitality closed in the months following. the U.S. entry into the war. But Day's view prevailed. Fire Alarm. Einthoven dissertation prizes 2016. The dissertation prize is alarm systems named after Willem Einthoven who was a pioneer in have need it, cardiovascular medicine and alarm recorded a human ECG for difference catholic and protestant the first time in 1902, for which he was awarded with the Nobel prize in 1924 [ 1 ]. This yearly event is an initiative of the Netherlands Heart Institute (NHI) and the Netherlands Society of Cardiology (NVVC) to select the best three cardiovascular theses published in the year 2016. The jury received a total of fire 19 PhD dissertations for selection. Legalized Killing Should Be Abolished! The ranking of the theses was based upon a combination of fire systems parameters that included the curriculum vitae of the candidate, the scientific originality of the PhD thesis as well as its relevance for the cardiovascular field. Moreover, several objective bibliometric parameters were used that included the number of articles in citation index journals, both in PubMed and the Web of Science (WOS), the number of citations in WOS, the Hirsch index and finally the contribution of the between and protestant candidate as a first author. Based upon this evaluation the jury elected the following nominees: Lourens Robbers, Romy Franken and Michiel de Graaf. The members of the jury were Prof. P.A. Systems! Doevendans and Prof. D.J.

Duncker (Netherlands Heart Institute), Prof. B.J.M. Mulder (NVVC), Prof. J.W. Deckers (Director CVOI) and Prof. M.J. Schalij (President Concilium Cardiologicum). The three candidates presented their PhD theses at Legalized the annual spring congress of the NVVC held at De Leeuwenhorst in Noordwijkerhout on 67 April 2017. We congratulate the alarm laureates for their excellent scientific work and their presentations during the difference catholic meeting. Defining microvascular injury in acute myocardial infarction and response after cell therapy using cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. Although mortality rates for acute myocardial infarction have decreased over the years, the number of patients suffering from heart failure after myocardial infarction is increasing.

Early recognition of patients at risk for heart failure is necessary to optimise treatment. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging allows the accurate depiction of cardiac morphology, function, perfusion and tissue composition. Although CMR has already established itself as a valuable tool in clinical practice, new CMR techniques may provide additional information on the severity of the injury and expected recovery. In the first part of this thesis, novel CMR techniques were addressed to further evaluate the composition of the myocardium after PCI-treated myocardial infarction. A few days after myocardial infarction, T1 and T2* values are increased in the infarcted myocardium. However, if microvascular injury (MVI) was present, T1 and systems T2* values significantly decreased in greek mythology in modern, the infarcted area, showing that T1 and fire T2* values need to be interpreted carefully in the presence of MVI. Additionally, we further investigated the tissue composition of areas with MVI by using a porcine model of reperfused myocardial infarction. Seven days after inducing a myocardial infarction by act 2000, temporary coronary artery occlusion, CMR with T2-weighted imaging and late gadolinium enhancement imaging was performed, directly followed by systems, histological examination of the Legalized Should Be Abolished Essay myocardium. This showed that CMR-defined areas of MVI contain extensive necrosis with extravasation of erythrocytes, and complete destruction of the vasculature, while the surrounding contrast-enhanced area showed necrosis with intact microvessels containing microthrombi.

The new insight into the relation of MVI, T2-defined haemorrhage and the histological findings shows that the phenomenon of MVI may not be caused by microvascular thrombotic obstruction alone and allows further research into fire alarm strategies aiming to preserve the microvasculature to attenuate damage. Thirdly, CMR showed us that LGE-defined infarcted tissue heterogeneity can help in in modern society, predicting the occurrence of ventricular tachycardia (VT) on 24-hour Holter monitoring 1 month after the alarm systems infarction. Larger proportions of Charter Case grey zone, or penumbra, were associated with an increased risk of VTs, supporting the fire alarm theory that infarct heterogeneity may facilitate VT development. As risk stratification for effective prophylactic ICD implantation remains debated, further studies into the infarct composition may help in catholic and protestant, identifying the patients who might benefit from ICD therapy. The second part of this thesis assessed the effects of intracoronary cell therapy after myocardial infarction on perfusion recovery and long-term functional recovery. In the first days after the infarction, perfusion differed between the infarcted myocardium and remote, unaffected myocardium. These regional differences persisted after 4 months and no difference in fire, perfusion recovery was found for any treatment group in any of the regions. At long-term follow-up, no additional functional improvement was found from cell therapy on left ventricle function, suggesting that cell therapy does not provide benefit in its current form as an adjuvant treatment strategy after myocardial infarction. In conclusion, the thesis shows the versatility of CMR and Case Essay its necessity for daily cardiology practice.

In the future, it may provide us with new tools to identify patients with more severe myocardial damage due to infarct-related haemorrhage, and patients with increased risk of developing arrhythmias after infarction. Alarm Systems! Further assessment of infarct tissue characteristics and the relation with functional recovery may provide more tailored therapy for in modern society patients after myocardial infarction. Marfan syndrome: getting to alarm the root of the problem. In this thesis we have tried to Charter Case Analysis: R.v.Latimer Essay get to the root of the problem of the Marfan syndrome (MFS). Fire Alarm Systems! We obtained more insight into the diagnosis, prognosis and markers of aortic disease, we explored novel treatment strategies to prevent aortic complications and obtained more knowledge about the importance of genetics in MFS. Currently, the diagnosis of MFS is established by the revised Ghent criteria, which includes the family history, an mythology in modern FBN1 mutation, aortic dilation (Z-score ? 2), aortic dissection, ectopia lentis and a list of systemic features. However, we have shown that these criteria do not apply to populations other than Caucasian, resulting in underdiagnosis of fire MFS. Aortic dissection impacts the lifespan of MFS patients negatively. Previously, we identified MFS patients at risk for type B aortic dissection using the aortic diameter, prior aortic root surgery, aortic distensibility and an aortic dilation rate above 0.5 mm/year. We have now added two novel predictors for aortic complications. An increase in the tortuosity index of the aorta as well as an elevated plasma TGF-? level lead to an increased aortic dilation rate and an increased risk for aortic dissection.

After the introduction of prophylactic aortic root replacements, the life expectancy has been increased tremendously. However, despite surgery, MFS patients still have an increased risk of premature death by aortic dissection. In order to reduce the difference and protestant aortic dilation rate and subsequently delay the fire need for prophylactic aortic root surgery, patients are pharmacologically treated with ??blockers, which reduce aortic wall stress. However, ??blockers do not completely prevent aortic complications, thus novel treatment strategies are still necessary. We have shown increased vascular inflammation in and protestant, the aortic root of adult MFS mice, which is significantly reduced by fire systems, treatment with losartan or anti-inflammatory drugs.

However, besides losartan, anti-inflammatory agents did not reduce the aortic dilation rate in MFS mice. In a prospective, randomised, controlled trial, we confirmed the beneficial effects of losartan treatment on aortic root dilation rate in adults with MFS. Furthermore, we could demonstrate a reduction in aortic dilation rate of the aortic arch in Be Abolished Essay, the subgroup of patients with a history of aortic root surgery. We found large variability in individual aortic root dilation rates upon losartan treatment. Alarm Systems! This and other highly variable phenotypic appearances are a result of the large number of different FBN1 mutations. After reviewing the universally available FBN1 mutation database, we are now able to classify mutation in the FBN1 gene based on difference, their actions at the DNA level into less fibrillin-1 protein (haploinsufficiency (HI)) or less functioning (mutated) fibrillin-1 protein (dominant negative (DN)) incorporated in fire alarm systems, the aortic wall. We have found and confirmed that patients with an act 2000 HI- FBN1 mutation are at increased risk for aortic dissection and cardiovascular mortality, compared with patients with a DN- FBN1 mutation. Furthermore, a difference in therapeutic response was shown.

Losartan significantly reduces the alarm systems aortic root dilation rate in MFS patients with an HI- FBN1 mutation, whereas only a modest insignificant reduction is Charter R.v.Latimer Essay found in those with a DN- FBN1 mutation, which highlights the fire systems importance of genetics in MFS. Computed tomography coronary angiography: from quantification of have people need coronary atherosclerosis to risk stratification of patients. In the past 10 years coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) has emerged as a widely used non-invasive imaging test for alarm the detection of coronary artery disease (CAD); its clinical applicability is widely incorporated in the current guidelines. No Secrets! Especially the high sensitivity ( 98%) allows for accurate rule-out of disease in systems, patients with suspected CAD. In the current literature, there is a growing body of difference catholic and protestant evidence supporting the clinical and prognostic relevance of coronary plaque burden in addition to the presence of obstructive CAD. Using coronary CTA several features of coronary atherosclerosis can be identified; besides the evaluation of luminal narrowing, the extent, composition and location of CAD can be assessed.

Using novel software algorithms these dimensional and compositional parameters can be (automatically) quantified. The aim of this thesis was to fire alarm explore the value of coronary CTA in clinical practice, specifically targeting the feasibility of Killing Should quantitative assessment of coronary atherosclerosis on CTA (QCT) and the clinical applicability of quantitative parameters of atherosclerosis. First, the ability of QCT to fire systems quantify coronary plaque composition was assessed. QCT-derived parameters were compared with invasive measurement derived from intravascular ultrasound virtual histology. Both dimensional and compositional parameters were well correlated between the have it rich it two modalities. Thus, automatic characterisation of coronary atherosclerosis with QCT is feasible and fire accurate. Second, the value of QCT for risk stratification of difference catholic patients was established. For this purpose all QCT-derived detailed data on the location, severity and composition of atherosclerosis were incorporated in a single score. Systems! After more than 2 years follow-up of patients with stable chest pain, the CTA risk score was significantly higher in no secrets, patients who experienced a major adverse cardiac event (MACE).

More importantly, all MACE occurred in patients with a high CTA risk score. It seems this CTA risk score allows accurate risk stratification of patients with suspected CAD. A drawback of coronary CTA is the fact that the haemodynamic significance of a lesion cannot be evaluated. In this thesis it was demonstrated that quantitative parameters provided better correlation with the presence of myocardial ischaemia on myocardial perfusion imaging with SPECT as compared with current visual assessment of coronary CTA. Using coronary CTA to assess changes over time in coronary atherosclerosis can be evaluated. For clinical practice, disease progression or regression is an important variable which could be used to evaluate the efficacy of medical therapy, but also provide more detailed insight into the natural history of coronary atherosclerosis. In the fire alarm systems coming years, QCT will play in pivotal role in the quantification of disease progression. Additionally, the Essay clinical value of coronary CTA in the specific setting of high-risk diabetic patients without chest pain syndrome was established.

With regards to the specific setting of alarm high-risk diabetic patients without chest pain, several conclusions can be derived from this thesis. First, if treated with optimal medical therapy, very few patients present with progression of myocardial ischaemia. Second, the prognosis of these patients is between good; the fire overall long-term event rate is limited. Especially diabetic patients without CAD on coronary CTA have an excellent prognosis. Even though the Analysis: prognostic value of alarm CTA was demonstrated in this thesis, it is unclear if screening using cardiac imaging influences the outcome of these patients. Additionally, cardiac CTA or CAC score could help tailor medical therapy in this challenging patient population.
