body in american subcultures, action essay Below is the full text of a two-part series that I wrote and posted last month. The body is a technology. One with political potentialities. In what follows, I delineate a language with which we can think about the examples body as technology, and in particular, politicized technology. We can do so, I argue, with Ernst Schraubes conceptualization of technology as materialized action. I begin by laying out this theoretical framework. I then apply this conceptualization to the body, with a focus on body size.

The conceptualization of american subcultures technology as materialized action comes from a 2009 essay written by Ernst Schraube. Here, Schraube synthesizes and builds on both Critical Psychology and Actor-Network-Theory. Schraube begins with critical psychologist Klaus Holzkamps conceptualization of objectification the notion that material artifacts are more than a means to an end, but are imbued with human subjectivity. The initiation of production stems and is shaped by a particular human need, and medieval ear the produced artifact, as a tool used to satiate that need, carries in it human agency and subjectivity. Roads, for example, hold in american, them the human need to work, socialize, and participate in commerce in what shakespeare, light of a sprawling landscape and increasingly differentiated division of labor.

This human agency is literally built in to the asphalt, road signs, and bridges that enable car and bus travel. Schraube critiques objectification, however, for ignoring the independent effects of material artifacts upon humans. American. He succinctly sates: It is computer crimes, not only the subjects that do something with the things; the things also do something with the subjects. American Subcultures. To buttress this weakness of the objectification perspective, Schraube calls upon Actor Network Theory to argue that indeed, material objects act back upon their human creators and usersinstructing them, in the famous words of ANT theorist Bruno Latour, to do this, do that, behave this way, dont go that way, you may do so, be allowed to go there. A sassy looking Bruno Latour. Going back to the example of roads, the asphalt, signs, and bridges instruct us on how to get from technology war 1 point A to point B, but also tell us that we may build and live in suburbs, that we may forgo co-habitation with extended family, that we may shop, work, and seek entertainment in geographically dispersed locations, but that we must own a working car or a bus pass, that we must travel to shop, work, and subcultures socialize etc. Importantly, just as ANT shores up the for kids weaknesses of objectification, the notion of objectification reciprocally supplements the weaknesses of ANTnamely the failure to recognize the human root to all technology and the responsibility of humans for the creation and use of technologies. To capture both the subjectivity and independent efficacy of technological artifacts, Schraube refers to american subcultures, artifacts as materialized action. It is not only the medieval ear subjects that do something with the things; the things also do something with the subjects. The means-to-an-end perspective fails the independence, materiality, and subcultures efficacy of things. Absolutizing this perspective holds the ic compiler danger of voluntarism and an understanding of seemingly disposing freely over created artifacts, treating them just as we want.

To make it clear that, on the one handin line with the objectification concepthuman subjectivity and american subcultures agency are materialized in medieval ear, the object, while, on the other hand, the materiality of the object can release an independent power and efficacy, I propose to conceptualize the created objects as materialized action. American. Schraube further argues that materialized action is often precarious, surprising and necessarily ambivalent. He says: Things are more than just societal meanings, more than just socially conceived and produced items. They always materialize, in addition, an unknown action, something coincidental, unplanned, and examples for kids their decisive power and efficacy can frequently be located just in what had not originally been imagined or intended. With this precariousness in mind, I want to subcultures, focus here on the body as technology, and shakespeare specifically I want to focus on american, the body as a potentially politicized technology. I do so using the case of vs sympathy body size. The body is subcultures, simultaneously infused with human meaning and independent efficacy. The body is an object created out of human choices about (literal) consumption, adornment, and ic compiler sculpture. Subcultures. At the same time, the examples body tells the person to eat this, wear that, desire hir, move like this. The body then, as materialized action, is necessarily precarious.

We cannot know what effect the relationship between the person and hir body will produce. Does a thin body reflect and effect fitness, or does it reflect and affect poor body image and restrictive self-control? Does a fat body reflect and affect indulgence, or does it reflect and affect acceptance and pleasure? To embrace this ambivalence, I argue, is the means by which the subcultures bodyas a technologycan be transformed into a politicized tool. Ic Compiler. Such a transformation is exemplified in the Fat Positive movements. Fat Positive movements exist in juxtaposition to narrow (pun intended) beauty standards that not only exclude the subcultures majority of U.S. women, but bring about anxiety, guilt, and narrative examples sometimes dangerous behaviors of voluntary starvation, purging, and/or excessive exercise. Importantly, these sensibilities (a privileging of thinness and its behavioral and psychological consequences) are largely produced through the american subcultures (often institutionally facilitated) accomplishment of thinness, and the public display of thin bodies. Fat Activists, in contrast, imbue (often their own) bodies with different meaning. In a culture in which thin is deemed not only beautiful, but also moral, a fat woman in a bikini is a radical act.

Embracing this radicalism, Fat Activists proudly display, maintain, and/or publicly support large bodies. In doing so, they use these bodies as objects to affect an explicit kind of changethat of both ideology and behaviorwhich they hope will alter the subjectivity imbued in future bodies. In short, with materialized action as a framework, we have a language with which to talk about the body as a tool, one full of human agency with the potential for imagined, and unimaginable, effects. As a politicized technology, the body can be used to challenge not only fatness (as described here), but heteronormativity, binary gender categories, ableism, and white racial privilege. We should be warned, however, that the influenced ambivalence of artifacts, with their potential for unimagined effects, means that the bodylike all technologiescan be used for both revolutionary change (e.g. Fat Activism) AND stagnant, sometimes repressive, reification (e.g. Thinspiration). Indeed, the latter is far more common than the former, as it is american subcultures, only through recognition of the body as an object of materialized action, coupled with a propensity for change, that such stagnation can be fought. Sample IELTS essay questions and subcultures topics. If you read enough IELTS books (or take the exam too often!), youll soon realise that there are very definite IELTS topics. There is empathy examples a good reason for this: IELTS is a very international exam and american subcultures the topics have to be suitable for all countries and all cultures. Accordingly, (nice word that) the people who set the exam tend to choose relatively everyday topics the crimes sort of topics all educated people should be able to speak and american subcultures write about in their own language. So one obvious way to prepare for the exam is to technology, practise writing and american subcultures speaking about these topics. They are: While the examples topics are predictable enough, the actual questions are invariably extremely precise.

Again, there is also a good reason for this: the american examiners do not want you to examples, learn an american subcultures essay, they want to test your English and see if you can answer a precise question, rather than produce a general answer to technology in world war 1, a general topic. Remember that in the exam these words are always included: Give reasons for american subcultures, your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience. This is empathy vs sympathy no small point because it tells you that whatever the form of the question, you need to be able to american subcultures, explain and exemplify your answer ( see coherence). How to like it, share it and ic compiler save it.

Get more help with IELTS preparation on the main pages of my site. Keep up with me on american Facebook - all the crimes updates and even more advice there. Or just get all my free lessons by email. 108 Responses to Sample IELTS essay questions and topics. if the task or question is to what extent do you argree or disagree should i still present both sides of the subcultures argument and on what my conclusion i? will sight my opinion? or at the first part of the essay (introduction), should i give my side already? and on the body would be the subcultures evidences or reasons why i chose such side of the in world war 1 argument? Another good question. There is no definite right or wrong answer here. But let me give you a few guidelines. One of the things the examiner is looking for american subcultures, is a clear point of narrative view sustained throughout the essay. Accordingly, it makes sense to american subcultures, state your point of view clearly in the introduction. Ic Compiler. This way it makes it easy for american, the examiner to see what you are doing.

The one problem with this approach is that it makes your conclusion slightly harder to medieval ear, write, as you have already given your answer in the introduction. That much said, you can still wait until the conclusion to give your own personal opinion after looking at both sides of the argument. Subcultures. This is perhaps the slightly more academic approach and makes for a better balanced essay normally. Medieval Ear. If you do take this approach, my advice would be to american subcultures, state clearly in the introduction that you are going to look at both sides of the issue first before giving your personal opinion. would there be a difference in the essay outline or format if the question is do you agree or disagree and to what extent do you agree or disagree? or same approach could be used? thanks so much! God bless? you!

This is in world a good question and american I apologise for not answering sooner. The short answer is that there is no major difference of approach required. Medieval Ear. If the question was Do you agree or disagree? Then you can still answer in your conclusion that There are strong arguments on both sides of the issue, but I tend to american subcultures, think that ie you can always agree to some extent. Likewise, if the question is To what extent then you can still fully agree or fully disagree. Are there any sample question papers of medieval ear writing? What about a discussion? Is the subcultures another format to write it or it can also be considered as a for and against essay? To What Extent should be answered by computer examples, choosing arguments to support one of american 3 major stances: to technology, a great extent, to a certain extent / to subcultures, some extent, or to a lesser extent. Ic Compiler. The question is asking for a measurement.

I have been experienced some issues about how to understand the main question whenever I come accross to what extent do you agree or disagree? For example: Creative artists should always be given the freedom to subcultures, express their own ideas (in words, pictures, music or film) in whichever way they wish. There should be no government restrictions on what they do. To what extent do you agree or disagree?(Cambridge IELTS 4) Is it OK if I say that the main question is Does government restrict freedom of speech? As you said before, whats the use of writting a good essay if you are not answering the influenced question, but, how are we going to be sure that we have understood the hidden argument? Thanks in advance! A really good question. One possible problem is that the question comes in 2 parts. This is really quite common in subcultures, IELTS. Examples. If you do get a question like this, you need to american, make certain that you answer both parts of the question. in your example. That is not really the case as the they in There should be no government restrictions on medieval ear what they do clearly links to subcultures, the creative artists in the first sentence.

So your reformulation does not work as it does not relate to medieval ear, creative artists. In practical terms, my best suggestion is to underline key words in subcultures, the question to make sure that you do not miss them out. one thing that why ielts exam performance sheet is not provided to medieval ear, candidate after result . American. beacuse if a candidate is not scoring the ic compiler bands more than 5 or 5.5 then after knowing mistakes a person will able to subcultures, correct it in next exam. How do we respond an essay that asks for technology war 1, our opinion ? Do we simply give our views all the way through? No one answer to this. All I would say is that you should make sure that any opinions are backed up with reasons/examples. If you do this, your essay will not just be all opinion even if every paragraph contains opinion. Can I please ask you two questions? Many people told me that I am not suppose to use I , we and american subcultures you things like that in my writting. But I noticed you actually use them quite often. does that mean I could use these words in narrative examples, my writting? Also, how to overcome umfamiliar topics?

I feel one of the most frustrate thing is to think out american subcultures ideas. I never can produce an essay in a limited time. I guess the problem for me is I do not have opinions at all. do you have any good suggestion about this? PS : I am going to have my IELTS exam this 29th, urgently need your advice! ;-))) There are no hard and fast rules here. But it would certainly be a mistake to overuse personal pronouns in empathy vs sympathy, your writing. American Subcultures. However, given that that the essay task is frequently an opinion based task and asks you for to use your own experience, it would be strange if you avoided the I altogether. IELTS is not academic writing it is examples for kids its own genre, The best advice is to answer the question. plz suggest me some tips my exam is on american subcultures 18 may ,2016 And i am very confused bcos i am going to give this test first time. Dear Dominic Cole, in this forum, Could I ask you an assessment of my essay relate to IELTS writing assessment ? Sorry, not for now.

I may start a grading service soon but sadly my time is too short. Hi What about if you are not familiar with asked essay topic. Can you answer the question with general writing? You should do your best to answer the vs sympathy examples question as asked. You may get severely penalised if you write too generally and subcultures dont answer the question.

The idea is that the questions are designed for anyone to answer and if you cant you have a language problem. That sounds a little harsh, no? The trick is to use examples from your experience and that way you should find enough to write. I do recognise the problem though and I am planning a series of postings giving ideas and language to deal with the most common topic areas. Thanks for the post, keep posting stuff. I was taking IELTS classes from a tutor. When she marked my Essay , because I gave example from my own experience she said I am subjective. She thinks in Academic Writing one should write on general ie effects on society. Narrative. However, I argue and told her that question stated that you can give example from american subcultures your own experience.Do you think if I give my own experience the examiner will mark me down? Absolutely not. I hate to contradict other teachers a very bad habit but in this case I will.

The rubric to ic compiler, the essay question almost always contains these words: include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience This means that you actually ought to include examples from your own knowledge/experience. From this point of subcultures view, academic IELTS is not exactly the empathy examples same as general academic writing where you typically dont do this so much. The question remains though how you do it. I would suggest that you dont want to american subcultures, use the first person I too much and that maybe is what your tutor is worried about. This is an extremely good point that you have raised and I will post a lesson on this in the next couple of days. Its very true that it doesnt matter if your writing is narrative subjective or not. The way you express your ideas and construct your writing matter. IELTS is designed for american subcultures, the purpose of testing English capability so it shouldnt take into account the level of medieval ear your education.

Feel free to express your ideas but on top of everything, keep it academic! Sir, i have been teaching ielts for about four years with excellent results. American. The latest rubrics for wrtiing task 2 state that the essay has to medieval ear, be based on knowledge OR experience and american subcultures NOT on ic compiler both. Please maintain contact with me for further details. Thank you for american, the correction on empathy vs sympathy examples the exact wording. I do take issue with your interpretation of it though. American Subcultures. It is ic compiler entirely possible for candidates to use one example based on american subcultures their knowledge and another based on their experience: this satisfies both the rubric and vs sympathy examples the grading criteria. Candidates can choose between the two options and are not restricted to american subcultures, one or the other: if that were the examples case, the rubric would read either knowledge or experience. American Subcultures. What has not happened is that the medieval ear new rubric has invented a new dichotomy between knowledge-based and experience-based essays. Incidentally, the rubric was changed to put the emphasis on the task itself and to delete complicated language such as written argument. The idea is supposed to simple and the key to understanding the new rubric is that it explicitly asks candidates to be relevant in their examples and that these support the main points.

Ive been searching the net for ages to find a website that can help me with my ielts essay questions and i now i can say yours is one of the american subcultures bestests #128521; i have some questions. will you help me with them please? 1. in your The three different types of IELTS essay question you have clearly mentioned in which type of essay we should give our own opinion. can you see this page please: http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-identify-the-type-of-essay-to-write-in-the-IELTS. i am confused a little. in technology war 1, which type should i reflect my opinion? and american more importantly in medieval ear, which paragraph? 2. under which type does advantage/disadvantage, cause and effect/ problem/solution essays fall? discussion or argument? you seem to insist that all of them are argument type, but hubpages.com seems to differ. 3. Subcultures. what is crimes examples explanatory essay?

Except theses common essay topics that youve mentioned, are there any more to add to this list?in Iran it seems the recent ielts test have been exposing the examinees to some different topics (speaking:what qualities should a leader have?does your political one have?, etc) thanks an ocean for subcultures, spending time for us. hlo dominic i do not get the ideas while writing an essay, what would you like to suggest to do thats why my essay is medieval ear always too short and to make it bigger i repeat some lines in diffent way. Ask yourself the questions Why is that true?or how can I explain that? if a question says agree or disagree, then what should i write in th body paragraphs. whether i have to stick to agree only through out the whole essay or also have to write something about why i diasgree please answer me correctly. hello mister Cole. In the ielts academic exam ( writing ) , I heard that there will only be an argumentative essay. is that true ? and american if not what else ? Ah. Technology War 1. It depends what you mean by argumentative. American Subcultures. The problem is different teachers use different words to describe types of essay.

I am guilty of this too. To try and answer your question, there are different types of essay you need to be able to examples, write. These include: discussing both sides of an issue. commenting on a proposal to american, solve a problem. looking at medieval ear, two different options and deciding which is better. giving solutions to a problem. I could go on. Subcultures. You should understand that you need to examples, be able to answer different types of questions. The secret as ever is to american, read the question and think hard about it before writing. Think about what it is asking you to do. The mistake is to examples, learn one model essay and try and write the same essay all the time.

Very helpful post for IELTS Students. (I am writing here since I could not find an email to write to) first of american subcultures all I want to compliment you for influenced shakespeare, your website. It is a very usefull resource for the preparation of the IELTS Test, the information are presented in a clear and nice way. They are structured very well and the user does not end up being overwhelmed by american, the amount of what influenced shakespeare information. American Subcultures. This is a very important point -at least to me-, because reading your site had the shakespeare result of calming me me and improve my self confidence for the exam. This is often not the case on the internet, where you mostly hand up panicking, which is american higly counter-productive. Nevertheless I am writing you because I would like to present to you my essay for the writing academic task 2. I would really like to medieval ear, have a feedback from you, because unfortunately I cant find no one to correct me one and I would like to have an opinion before I take the exam (which is in american subcultures, 7 days: unfortunately I have found your website late #128577; ). What Influenced. I am not asking you to correct every mistake, just to read it once and give me your impression and maybe the main points that I have to be careful about in the test (the first being word number: by rewriting to the computer I have just seen a lot of subcultures mistakes that I could have corrected if I had the time, thing which I havent).

If it possible can you say to me around band score I am? Or, is this essay enough good for a minimum band score of 5.5? I am really looking forward to read an answer from what shakespeare you and american subcultures I thank you in advance for your courtesy. Write about the following topic: In many countries schools have severe problems with student behaviour. What do you think ar the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest? One of the most important problem in the schools is the student behaviour.

In fact it is known that in many countries episodes of vandalism, disrespect or bullism are frequent in the schools. This issue should be handled particularly carefully, because we have not to forget that the school has to prepare the students to become responsible adult. It is therefore very important to individuate the causes and ic compiler the possible solutions to be applied, in american, order for the school to fullfill its educational role in the best way. We should take into account the basic fact that no one has a bad behaviour only for the reason to be bad. Often those behaviours are the expressions of other, hidden problems. One of the ic compiler main cause could be the stress that the students frequently have to face in the school. Exams, homeworks, presentations for many subjects put an incredible pressure over the students, that sometimes will be incapable of american subcultures handling the stress. Crimes. Bad behaviour thus manifests itself has a rebellion against the stress, a hidden stop it shout.

Nevertheless it is my opinion that the main source of bad behaviour of students is to be found outside the school, namely in the private life of the students. With both my parents being teachers, I know with certainity that an instable family environment is very often the cause of arrogant and generally bad behaviour. American Subcultures. Where the kids are left alone or treated bad by crimes, their family members, they can end up manifesting their anger at the school, during the lessons or in the corridors. Those problems suggest their solutions. The amount of american subcultures stress to which the students are underponed should be carefull analyzed by what shakespeare, the teachers and subcultures accurately be revised and adjusted. The task is of course not easy, because a certain amount of stress is inevitable, is the quality of the school has to be preserved. In World War 1. Regarding family problems, it is my firm convinction that child that were raised (or still are) in instable family environment should be followed carefully by expers, such as psyhcologists and subcultures pedagogists, and ic compiler sustained by teachers, in order to allow them to retrieve their happiness and bring their life back on the tracks. Summarizing, students can answer to exagerate stress acting bad: thus the solution is to carefully control and american adjust the examples pressures on the students. A more important cause of problematic behaviour is the american subcultures family where student lives, that can already be a source of medieval ear problems and instability.

Students should be therefore sustained by american subcultures, expers in their personal issues. (you can answer me via email if you want) Sorry for the delay. Had a quick look and it looks an examples extremely good essay. My one concern is length. sometimes shorter can be better.

Sorry but I simply dony have the time to look at individual essays. This is subcultures a very good job. Medieval Ear. It was clearly given how to approach a task since you already have given the clue how to practice a certain topic, and subcultures so, through this, many IELTS writing examinees will have the idea now on examples how to write and speak appropriately. TheIELTSSolution.com. it is american subcultures my first acknowlegment of this wonderful site. Ic Compiler. In World War 1. please reply fast i need some important topics . Sorry, I have no way of telling theres a pretty large stock of questions.

My general advice is to revise vocabulary for the key topic areas before the american exam (you can find these on the essay question page) and then to make sure you read the exact question in the exam as closely as possible. I know that this is really boring advice but be very careful about looking at recent essay questions. For me, their only real value is to tell you the examples types of american subcultures topic you will need to write about and what sort of vocab you need. Very frequently, the influenced shakespeare task part of the question the bit that tells you what you need to do is wrongly reported. Thank you very much for your helpful hints and appreciable and subcultures dedicated efforts. As a candidate who took nearly 10 exams, I confess that I owe too much to you. The purpose of rephrasing the rubrics was to make them more accessible if you read the computer crimes source papers. The purpose was not to introduce a new challenge to candidates. sir, i personally think that words i , we , you should be eschewed from task one along with copying the introduction from the statement of question (from task 2 as well) and sole emphasis should be laid on american subcultures grouping the subject matter and comparisons . I shall be looking forward to receiving your reply. Thanking you in advance. No more than 3 words means 1, 2 or 3 words.

you helped me a lot. I have studying on american your website recently. I found it great and a resourceful webpage. I have taken the medieval ear IELTS at least 7 times now, and I have not achieved my required results yet. I need a band score of 8 in subcultures, each module.

My next exam is on computer crimes the 31.03.12, any more advice Sir?In my last 2 exam, I got 6.5 in Writing. Your website is american of great help for those who want to take IELTS #128521; I just want to ask you this question: Other cultures highly value old people, while others value young people. Discuss both opposing views and computer crimes give your opinion. I wanted to american subcultures, ask you a question about the IELTs and in partictular about medieval ear, paragraphs. When I did my ielts test, I finished the subcultures writing task 2, and examples left one line empty between each paragraph. American Subcultures. However, when I wrote the conclusion, I left 4-5 empty lines and examples then started the conclusion.

I did this because I was sort of running out of time, and didnt know if I wanted to add anything else in the last paragraph( the subcultures one before conclusion. so it looked a bit like this. Do you thing this will affect the mark I get? No, I very much doubt it- examiners are intelligent people. I am really grateful to you as I only prepared for my IELTS examination from this website and I got band 8 in all modules except writing where I got 7.5. You are awesome. In simply words . Is there any means you possibly can remove me from that service? Thanks! Sorry there is american nothing I can do about that as I do not have details of that service. I can only suggest that you move the post to spam!! Congrats on your blog. One question thou, some literature state there are 4 different types of essays instead of the 3 types you mention in your blog, these are: Do you agree with this? if so, when we have a to what extent do you agree or disagree type of question, which kind of essay will that be from the 4 types mentioned above?x. Hmmmm. I do need to go back to that post. The division you maker does make sense.

In truth though I increasingly wonder how helpful it is to computer crimes, categorise different essay types rather than just looking at the particular question in front of you and answering the question as it is asked. American. I say this because I feel some candidates get trapped by trying to follow a particular formula. I will put this on my to do list. Thank you for your comment. firstly thanks for the effort you have made for us.anyway i am having problem in ic compiler, differentiating between agree/disgree and to what extent do you agree/disagree..i have seen essays written both by discussing both topic in 4 paragrpah model and also taking only one position.does the topic content make difference on american choosing the format of such essay?

Good question. Narrative For Kids. You will find advice that gives you quite strict guidelines on how to answer different question types -setting out formulae/formulas for each type of question. American. I am never really convinced by that approach, I much prefer the approach of looking at each question on its own merits and focussing on answering the question as it is what asked. I realise that that may not seem particularly helpful, so here is american my general advice. The introduction and conclusion are the areas where you need to focus on addressing the question and giving your clear answer to medieval ear, it. So in american subcultures, those paragraphs you need to outline your your position in relation to the question and medieval ear give your answer. Even if the question is do you agree?, it is open to american, you to say I agree but only up to a point. The content paragraphs are where you introduce the in world reasons for your point of american subcultures view. Typically, the academic thing to ic compiler, do is to look at both sides of the issue even if you have a strong opinion for subcultures, one point of view. This can work with almost IELTS agree/disagree type questions. Shakespeare. Certainly, with my own students, I encourage them to look at both sides of the issue, as for them IELTS is simply a passport to academic courses at university and subcultures I want them to learn the skills of academic writing. That said, it is open to you to take just one position and argue that on condition that you outline this is your introduction and the question does not ask you to look at in world war 1, both sides of the question.

Please excuse my lame language. Hello, I was just wondering is there any difference in scoring of academic and general writing ? I felt, the vocab section in academic test , requires more academic words. If not, candidates will not score a 7 or 8 in it (. ). And what about agree or disagree / positive or negative types questions? Is it necessary to stick with one side in examples for kids, the opinion paragraph? ie; 2 positive points and 1 negative point. Can I still conclude it as positive ? Logically, it doesnt make sense as the negative side would nullify one of the positive effects, wouldnt it? Could we go like it may be positive in this case ( if the question is is this positive or negative)? Why many students are not getting 9 in task response?

Is it mainly because of the lack of relevant example ? If you could be any of my assistance, Id really grateful. I have had a question for writing task 2. When I went to school to prepare for IELTS, they said I should not use I, you when I write task 2. I could use It is said/ believed/ stated that. Generally, they said I should not use 1st 2nd like I, U, should use negative voice. What do you think about this opinion? Good question. My own preference is to avoid the I, but that does not mean you can never use it. Subcultures. There are times when you want to make it clear that this is your opinion and then personal language is computer more appropriate. It may be more stylist though to use In my view rather than I think what will happen if i write agree/disagree while question ask for both view. Thank you for the great ideas. Actually I m very confuse about writing task 2 ( Essay Writing ).Is it possible that Same Essay topic will come again next IELTS exam?Which topic I refere maximum for exam? Can you please guide me sir? thanks dominic you helped me a lot. Sir my IELTS test will be on next week: and i need at least 6 bands in writing: Some people claim that not enough of the in world waste from homes is recycled.

They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. Mostly the recycled product is come from the home wastages, but nowadays concerned department are claiming that waste material from american home is not properly enough as it should be. Some people of the society believe that it is the negligence of people that waste material are not receiving enough by examples, the concerned organization from the society, therefore, they believe that a legislation should be passed for making it a legal requirement. As far as my opinion is concerned there should be a law for recycling, but, it is also the responsibility of the society and media as well. Organizations for recycling are doing their job in a proper manner.

They collected every garbage from the street even from the gutters as well. In contrast, residents of the society are not participating with the american recycling workforce; moreover, it happens due to lack of awareness in people for in world, the importance of recycling garbage. Secondly, there is the negligence factor as well in the society in participating with recycling department. For instance, people throw their house waste material into their dustbins without separating the recycled material from the american un-recycled material. Even a recently conducted survey revealed the fact that the 50% materials which can be recycled are wasted because they are not separated from the ic compiler non-recyclable material by the residents of the society.

Secondly, citizens of the society are not giving enough importance in the recycling of wastage, therefore, government should pass the american subcultures legislation that garbage should be separated as recycled and non-recycled wastage, moreover, people should pack that recyclable product and put them in a separate box instead of throwing in the dustbin. In addition, government should also penalize those people who are not obeying the law. Therefore, these acts restrict the citizens to follow the law and help the examples for kids recycling department to get as much garbage as the organizations wanted to recycle. After viewing above all discussion, it would lead me to conclude on the note that people should feel the importance material and legislation should be passed for waste material. These kind of acts would be enough to enhance the proportion of american subcultures waste material. [] Sample essay questions and sample essays []

In World.

What Influenced.

Narrative For Kids.

What.

@ISSUE: What are lessons learned from american subcultures charter schools? Charter schools, publicly funded school districts run by independent boards that are aimed at medieval ear giving parents an option to traditional neighborhood public schools, first began operating in New Jersey in 1997. American! They have grown from 13 schools to 89, and examples now educate more than 35,000 students. They are heavily concentrated in urban districts. Hailed by american subcultures some as a badly need alternative to failing urban schools, they are criticized by others as a drain on resources for in world war 1 noncharter public schools. During the past three years, 20 new charter schools have been opened in New Jersey and 12 others have been closed for poor academic performance or financial or managerial problems. What have we learned about charter schools over the past two decades from those that have been most successful? And do those successes argue for expanding them? Thats the question we posed to four experts on charter schools.

Their responses follow: Four lessons learned from charter schools successes. As with the rest of American public education, the subcultures public charter school sector has both star performers and schools that need improvement. What makes charters special, however, is their remarkable ability to raise achievement levels among students who often struggle in traditional schools. The most comprehensive nationwide study of the technology impact of charter schools to date, led by Stanford University, found that African-American and Hispanic charter school students from low-income families gained the equivalent of weeks of additional learning in reading and math compared with their peers in traditional public schools. What makes it possible for public charter schools to have such a positive impact on learning? I see four factors at work. The first is a no-excuses mentality.

You have to subcultures believe that all children can learn, regardless of their background. This may sound like a gauzy sentiment, but youd be surprised how often even well-intentioned people subtly give up on kids. How many times have you heard the argument that certain students, because they come from a poor neighborhood, or they dont get enough support at home, or they have a disability, cant compete with other kids? This leads to medieval ear a lowering of expectations and a fear of american subcultures accountability. But if you believe that your students can meet high expectations, you welcome those expectations and examples you do whatever it takes more hours in american, the classroom, personalized tutoring, engaging parents to help them succeed. Computer Examples! This is a common denominator of every charter school that has successfully beaten the odds. The second key to charter success is a strong culture grounded in order, team work and collegiality. When you continually reinforce high expectations both academic and behavioral students buy in.

North Star Academy in american, Newark says unambiguously, it is cool to be smart, and with hard work, smart is technology war 1, something that you become. At Newarks Great Oaks Charter School, students live by RISE values Respect, Integrity, Self-Discipline and Excellence. No surprise that students at subcultures both schools are among New Jerseys top performers, erasing the examples black-white academic achievement gap. The third factor in charter success is data-driven decision making. Most successful charters use data to subcultures find the examples for kids gaps in subcultures, student achievement and target those areas for extra attention. The data comes from narrative examples annual assessments, but also from monthly, weekly, even daily performance updates. Rocketship, a charter operator in California, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., is a leader in using blended learning, a mix of traditional classroom instruction and innovative educational technology to support teachers. The technology constantly adjusts to american students learning patterns, allowing students to narrative examples progress at different paces, and american helping teachers to diagnose emerging problems and quickly address them. Finally, leadership counts. In schools, that means having a strong principal who is both an technology, instructional leader and american an administrative whiz. War 1! Charter schools tend to attract strong leaders because charters dedicate a lot of time to teacher development and mentoring, allow teachers to advance into leadership quickly, and offer principals greater autonomy to make decisions about staffing and subcultures running a school. Charter principals also contend with less bureaucracy, because they are independent of narrative school districts.

Thats a bonus for subcultures any leader. Ultimately, its the combination of technology war 1 high expectations for every student, strong school culture, flexibility to make adjustments based on good data, and freedom from excessive bureaucracy that allows charters to succeed where other schools have failed. Charter schools continually strive to subcultures get better and welcome opportunities to share successful techniques with colleagues in traditional public schools. As a movement, we believe that by working with traditional public schools, we can improve education for all children. Nina Rees is influenced, president and CEO of the National Alliance for american subcultures Public Charter Schools, the leading national nonprofit organization committed to advancing the public charter school movement. Answer depends on shakespeare, how one defines success.

By Julia Sass Rubin. What does it mean for a school to be successful? There is american, no simple answer to this question. Most school comparisons focus on student scores on standardized tests. What Influenced! Some also include a schools depth of course offerings; student graduation rates; and the ability of the schools graduates to complete college within four years. Yet these outcomes are all dependent on the financial resources available to a school and the demographics of its students. Well-funded schools that educate more-affluent students who are proficient in English and american do not have significant special needs invariably produce higher test scores, graduation rates, and shakespeare on-time college completion rates.

Consider the fact that a child whose family makes $40,000 a year averages 100 points higher on the SAT than a child whose family makes $20,000 a year. And, the wealthier a students family is, the higher the SAT score. Schools with more resources also can afford to offer a richer variety of courses. So, unless student demographics and american school funding levels are appropriately factored into any analysis of school performance, the results simply reward those already more fortunate. Many school comparisons also include selective and non-selective schools, pitting neighborhood public schools that accept all students against magnet schools that use admission exams or other means of empathy identifying the easiest to educate, or against those charter schools that push out the more challenging students through rigid behavioral codes and harsh disciplinary policies. So what do we find if we look only at open enrollment schools and consider student demographics and school funding levels? Rutgers Professor Bruce Baker performed such an american, analysis, examining changes in standardized test scores over four years at what shakespeare all K-8 publicly funded schools in subcultures, New Jersey.

To ensure validity, he used only publicly-available data, so his work could be replicated by other scholars. What have we learned about charter schools from those which have been most successful? We have learned that, as with most things, the answer depends largely on how you define the question. We also have learned that the highest-performing schools are district public schools, and that charter schools that perform well are not necessarily the ones receiving the most public recognition. More fundamentally, charter versus district is a useless comparison that encourages competition and self-promotion and medieval ear does not serve our children well. Such comparisons also do not inform whether charter schools should expand within New Jersey.

That decision must be made by the people of the host communities who would be responsible for funding any new charter schools out of their existing school budgets. Julia Sass Rubin is an associate professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of american Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University and one of the founding members of Save Our Schools NJ, an all-volunteer advocacy group whose members believe that every child in medieval ear, New Jersey should have access to a high-quality public education. Waiting lists for charters indication of their success. By Rick Pressler. Charter schools are public schools that offer parents and students excellent educational opportunities in many New Jersey communities most notably in american, high-need districts such as Newark, Camden, Jersey City, Paterson, Plainfield and Trenton. Over the past 20 years, many charters have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement on state assessments, extraordinary graduation and college matriculation rates, and a fundamental commitment to responsiveness and technology in world respect towards students and subcultures families. Charters are making a huge difference and we need more of ic compiler them. This is clear from the demand there are more than 10,000 students on american subcultures, waiting lists as well as from the remarkable results they have produced in technology, closing the achievement gap and helping their students reach college. The demand for charter schools reflects the reality that they are often the most accessible high-quality public school option for families in certain ZIP codes.

Increasingly, New Jersey is subcultures, a state with two distinct systems of public education one for what influenced the haves and subcultures one for the have-nots. The haves possess the economic means to choose their childrens school (through moving or private school), while the have-nots are left to whatever their ZIP code dictates. New Jerseys charter schools represent a diversity of approaches, but there are practices and program elements that are common across many successful schools: A well defined, student centered mission. Successful schools are unified around a common mission that clearly defines desired outcomes, instructional approaches and institutional values. Well-trained, effective instructional leaders. All successful schools have leaders who demand and support strong instructional practice, regardless of the educational approach. The best schools construct administrative schedules with deliberate attention to narrative time spent in classrooms and in direct contact with teachers. Well- trained, deeply committed teachers. A school is only as good as the talent and dedication of its teachers. Use of assessment data to drive individualized instruction.

The collection and analysis of interim and formative assessment data informs instruction on a regular basis. Subcultures! Information about student progress is shared, allowing teachers to respond to student needs quickly. Engagement of what parents. American! Many successful schools run programs that help parents better support their children. Some also provide valuable community services such as ESL and parenting classes, access to other social services, technology access, and so on. Longer school day and year. Charters, especially in medieval ear, disadvantaged communities, provide students with more instructional and recreational time in school.

In one sense, there is a growing set of public school options available in New Jersey, including district magnet schools, county vocational programs and career academies, choice district schools, Urban Hope schools, open enrollment district schools, and charters. However, some of the most high-performing public options, such as district and american county magnet programs, handpick their students, thus restricting this as a widely accessible option. For many disadvantaged families, charter schools represent their only option for medieval ear a safe, effective public school. Given these circumstances, charter schools must play a major role in addressing the educational inequities institutionalized in New Jerseys system of american public education. It is technology war 1, difficult to see how we achieve educational equity, especially for our most disadvantaged students, without significantly more charter schools. Rick Pressler is interim president and CEO of the New Jersey Charter Schools Association.

The lessons and limits of successful charter schools. By Alfred Chris Torres. Public charter schools are among the nations most polarizing educational reforms. Critics suggest that they privatize public education and subcultures drain resources from ic compiler other public schools while supporters argue that they provide families with choices, particularly in high-poverty communities that have few high quality schooling options. The debate about charters is often centered on whether theyre a good idea or not. In spite of this, they have nearly doubled in growth nationwide in the last eight years.

Since they are arguably not going anywhere soon, it is subcultures, sensible to start discussing what we can learn from the most successful charters and the limits and possibilities of expanding those schools. Several rigorous evaluations of empathy vs sympathy charter school networks such as the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) claim that the most successful charters have significantly raised the achievement and college attainment rates of low-income, minority students. According to different reports and studies, their success is explained by certain characteristics such as an extended school day and school year, flexibility with hiring and firing, strict norms for student behavior, and high expectations for students and staff.
